The Newport RS4000 is a high performance Optical Table that excels in performance. This sophisticated table is equipped with six precision tunable dampers, specifically engineered to deliver passive damping capabilities required for applications demanding a critical level of damping. This table offers is ultra-quiet, making it ideal for a wide range of critical applications, including experiments with long exposure time, interferometry, high-resolution imaging, and live cell imaging. The RS4000 is compatible with three distinct types of supports to hold the table securely, including the S-2000A vibration isolators, the SL series pneumatic vibration isolators, and the RL series non-isolating rigid support legs.

Utilizing Tuned Mass Damping (TMD) technology, the RS4000 efficiently eliminates table resonances, making it the most effective passive damping method available. TMD focuses its damping efforts precisely where it is needed, at dominant resonance mode frequencies. Widely utilized across various industries for its remarkable effectiveness and efficiency, TMD is an optimal choice for critical applications. The RS4000's precisely tuned dampers operate within the frequency range of 25 Hz to 525 Hz, presenting a chance for optimum damping on optical tables that are larger, which often have resonances falling outside competitor's broadband frequency range. Additionally, the table features a composite edge finish, a damped working surface, a constrained layer core, and an optical table skin that is 4.8 mm thick.

Constructed with a honeycomb core, the RS4000 achieves exceptional dynamic rigidity. The corrugated honeycomb steel sheet is immersed in materials that absorb proprietary elastomeric vibration and are vertically boned throughout the height of the table, resulting in a more rigid honeycomb core structure. This process ensures that the table exhibits honeycomb structures that are robust. Moreover, the RS4000's vertical bonding along the height of the core introduces constrained layer damping effects, optimizing the table's rigidity-to-weight ratio. The design of the table incorporates a trussed core that enables a triple core interface at each honeycomb cell, with three sheets fully bonded for the entire table height.

The RS4000 is equipped with mounting holes that are individually sealed, featuring a 19 mm screw depth. The tapped mounting holes are deburred and countersunk, ensuring easy thread engagement and eliminating contamination concerns. The mounting holes are strategically placed on a standard grid, facilitating repeatable and simple placement of components. For added damping performance, the side panels of the table are crafted from composite wood. Materials like wood have low elasticity, effectively dampening vibration and reducing ringing. Furthermore, the RS4000 boasts metrology quality steel assembly platens, guaranteeing the table's superior flatness. These platens support the top surface during bonding and assembly, leaving identical flatness characteristics imprinted on the top surface.
