The ST-200 by Newport is a SmartTable Controller that seamlessly integrates a structurally damped vibration isolation table with cutting-edge electronics dedicated to real-time vibration monitoring. Additionally, it incorporates active elements that harness vibration data to effectively suppress undesirable vibrations. The ST-200 controller features two active vibration dampers capable of dissipating vibrations across a wide frequency spectrum, all while avoiding the creation of lower frequency resonances. These dampers consistently maintain their stability and efficiency, even when control gains require a single auto-tuning adjustment due to variations in the table's load.
The ST-200 can precisely meet the demands of specific applications, with a key focus on vibration reduction, particularly in mitigating dynamic deviations from the table's ideal rigid-body behavior. By employing passive isolating legs, this controller significantly reduces the transmission of vibrations from the table to the surrounding floor. It's important to note, however, that despite achieving excellent isolation from floor vibrations, the ST-200 table exhibits some degree of deviation from the ideal rigid-body behavior at its flexural vibration natural frequency. This departure from rigid-body behavior is especially notable when external sources, such as acoustical waves, air turbulence, or dynamic events within the payload, stimulate resonance vibrations within the table's inherent free-state modes. These resonance vibrations can adversely affect payload performance, potentially leading to issues like misalignment of optical equipment.
