The MFA-CC by Newport is a Miniature Motorized Linear Stage thoughtfully engineered to cater to compact multi-axis assemblies and space-limited applications, all bundled in a cost-effective package. This stage finds its niche in a variety of industries, including inspection systems, bio-medical, laser diode research, and fiber optic alignment applications. Constructed entirely from steel, the MFA-CC boasts precise motion capabilities with a travel distance of 25 mm and a remarkable Minimum Incremental Motion (MIM) of 0.1 μm, ensuring excellent stiffness and stability throughout its operation. Its core is built around a reliable DC motor, which includes a motor-mounted high-resolution rotary encoder and an integrated gear-box.

The MFA-CC can deliver ultra-smooth motion combined with exceptional sensitivity of 100 nm, because of its low-friction mechanical design. Moreover, the stage features a high-resolution 2,048 cts/rev rotary encoder, providing accurate and reliable position feedback. For enhanced safety and precision, the MFA-CC incorporates end-of-run limit switches on both ends of the stage to prevent damage resulting from over-travel. Additionally, the stage incorporates a backlash compensated leadscrew, effectively improving repeatability. In comparison to other designs that offer only line contact with two mounting holes, this stage stands out with its integrated bearings, providing superior stress distribution and enabling a more rigid multi-axis combination.
