The Newport 2835-C is a Multi-Function Optical Meter designed to meet a wide range of measurement needs in testing and laboratory applications. With its advanced features and capabilities, this optical meter offers exceptional flexibility and performance. The 2835-C is optimized for measuring high-power, low-power, or energy of pulse or continuous light sources. It is a dual-channel meter, enabling simultaneous measurements of different light sources that operate at different wavelengths and power levels. This instrument is equipped with pulsed and integrated emerged measurements, allowing for accurate characterization of light sources.
The 2835-C is easy to use with direct panel access to basic functions and a user-friendly menu for accessing advanced features. The meter ensures fast IEEE-488 data throughput, ranging from 50 to 100 Hz, depending on the software interface. It supports DC optical power measurements in the wide range of 100 fW to 300 W. The device features both IEEE-488 and RS-232C interfaces, enabling seamless connectivity with external devices. Its vacuum fluorescent display guarantees excellent legibility from any lighting or angle condition. The 2835-C offers a variety of measurement and triggering features to accommodate diverse requirements. It includes an analog bar graph with a 10X zoom function, pulse arrival indicated by a beep that’s audible, and wavelength calibration in 1 nm steps.
The 2835-C utilizes a calibration module that contains detector-specific information when connected to a detector. The vacuum fluorescent display remains easily visible even when laser goggles are worn at high angles of incidence. The front and rear panels of the meter feature control interfaces, with front panel controls used for measurement operations and rear panel controls used for AC line power setup. The front panel keypad of the 2835-C provides quick access to measurement functions and menu options for advanced features and setup parameters. Most of the front panel keys only affect the currently displayed channel, indicated by the channel annunciators on the display. This optical meter allows users to save up to 1,000 measurements for each channel, with a maximum storage capacity of 2,000 measurements.
The 2835-C’s stored measurements are held in an internal buffer and can be easily viewed or transmitted via a computer interface. Each channel has its own dedicated buffer for convenient organization of measurement data. Additionally, the meter offers configuration saving and recall capabilities, ensuring the preservation and retrieval of instrument settings even after power cycles. The 2835-C provides the option to create a custom detector responsivity that overrides the default responsivities obtained from the detector's calibration module. This feature enables compensation for the effects of additional optics and filters in the measurement path. The meter incorporates two analog-to-digital converters (A/D converters): one with a resolution of 20,000 counts and another with a resolution of 4,096 counts.
