The 8892 by Newport is a Motorized Flipper that is designed for flipping optics in and out of a beam path, boasting a fast transmit time of less than 1 second. This flipper is capable of accommodating thicker optics, with sizes of up to 5 mm, secured either through the use of a nylon-tipped setscrew or a retaining ring. This flipper can be controlled with a TTL-compatible signal applied to the "TTL-in" port on the handpad. A rising edge signal raises the flipper, while a falling edge signal lowers it. For tailored control, users can create a custom cable with a 2.5 mm plug for TTL control. It is recommended to send a rising-edge signal before initiating any experimental setup, thereby confirming that the flipper is positioned in the upward orientation. Additionally, the 8892 features a built-in 9-Volt battery, offering the convenience of powering up to 1,000 flips over a 6-month period or 2,000 flips over a 3-month period. Alternatively, it can also be powered using any DC power supply that is compatible with the system.
